Bamidele Akingboye’s Death: Viral Video Sparks Speculation Over Possible Foul Play

Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, the former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ondo State, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at his residence in Victoria Garden City, Lagos.
He was 60 years old. Akingboye’s death was announced in a statement signed by his Personal Assistant and Media Adviser, Oyeniyi Iwakun, who described him as a man of unwavering integrity, accomplished businessman, philanthropist, and community leader.
The circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear, but there are some inconsistencies in the reports. While some sources stated he died peacefully, others raised questions due to a viral video and pictures , showing his corpse with bruises and blood.
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested some of Akingboye’s domestic staff, including his wife’s, in connection with his death.
The SDP expressed deep sorrow over his passing, describing him as a remarkable leader, philanthropist, and business tycoon who dedicated his life to serving the people of Ondo State.
Governor Aiyedatiwa and many prominent individuals have issued condolences to Akingboye’s family.
The party prayed for the repose of his soul and offered condolences to his family, friends, and supporters.
